The science behind why you’re stuck

The reason you’re stuck is difficult to explain because there isn’t one clear reason. There’s nothing obviously broken and nothing you can point to and say, that’s it. It just feels like something inside you pulls back right when it matters most, and the more you try to reason your way through it, the more stuck you feel.

This is a common place for women who care deeply about what they want to achieve.

It doesn’t matter how logically you approach it. When your nervous system associates your goal with pressure, fear, past disappointment or emotional risk, your brain does what it’s designed to do: protect you. That protection shows up as procrastination, freezing, overthinking, playing small or sabotaging progress right when it matters most.

Change happens when your stress response is lowered and your system feels safe enough to move forward again.

Setting a clear goal is one of the most powerful things you can do, but a really bold goal can trigger fears and limiting beliefs. Your head will fill with thoughts about what is impossible and the potential to fail painfully.

When you don’t 100% believe your goal is possible, or you think that achieving it will be too painful or cause new problems, your heart will never be in it. This depresses your motivation and will slow and derail any consistent action you’re trying to make happen.
